This webinar will provide leaders, SENCOs, SEN teaching assistants and teachers working with children and young adults with SEND to understand how to conduct best practice SEND risk assessments.

It will also cover the recent DfE guidance ‘Conducting a SEND risk assessment during the coronavirus outbreak’ released in response to assessing whether vulnerable children and young people would be safer at home or in a school or college setting.

The DfE ‘SEND code of practice’ statutory guidance states that all schools and colleges should have a clear approach to identifying, responding and supporting children with SEND. It also states that pupils must have an education, health and care (EHC) needs assessment if special educational provision is being considered.

In this webinar, SEND subject matter expert and Acting Deputy Head, Karen Pilling, discusses how schools should carry out their risk assessments and employ best practice methods. She will also explore the recent DfE guidance in response to COVID-19 and what this means for schools in the current climate.
