This webinar will provide governors, headteachers, DSLs and teaching staff with practical guidance and support on developing and implementing preventative and responsive measures towards online sexual abuse and delivering a whole-school community approach.

Following the thousands of testimonies posted on the Everyone’s Invited website, and Ofsted’s review of sexual abuse in schools and colleges, which included online sexual abuse, there is a much greater focus on schools and colleges to ensure they have the right safeguarding policies and arrangements in place to support children and young people who may experience online sexual abuse or be impacted by it.

In this webinar Jayne Bullough, Training and Prevention Coordinator for the Rape and Sexual Abuse Support Centre (RASASC), will discuss how the online world can facilitate sexual abuse, what actions schools and colleges can take to help prevent it and how they can respond effectively in the event of a disclosure.

Outcome 1:

Understanding past events which highlighted the prevalence on online sexual abuse and recognising the intrinsic role that the online world has played

Outcome 2:

Recognising the different forms of online sexual abuse and how they can impact children and young people of all ages from all backgrounds

Outcome 3:

Realising the importance of training and education around online sexual abuse to aid prevention and support a culture where abuse is not accepted

Outcome 4:

Identifying best practice procedures when dealing with reports of abuse and how to manage disclosures with sensitivity, compassion and the individual’s needs in mind

Outcome 5:

Recognising what practical methods teachers can employ in the classroom to educate pupils around online sexual abuse and where schools and colleges can go for further guidance and support
