The Education Endowment Foundation (EEF) report that an effective approach to mastery learning can, on average, lead to an additional 5 months progress, although admit that making mastery learning work successfully is challenging. Whilst there is no single established view or definition when it comes to mastery, what is known is that it is connected with the concepts of shallow and deep learning.

In this webinar, Dr Keith Ross, who has extensive experience as a teacher, author and senior lecturer in science and science education, will take a constructive approach to mastery of science, using real-life and relatable scenarios which take learners through the stages of mastery: impact and elicitation of ideas, intervention by the teacher, reformulation and evaluation.
