This webinar will provide headteachers, senior leaders, governors and trustees with advice and practical guidance on understanding and analysing performance data to inform their boards' discussions and identify and prioritise risk and improvement areas.

On 1 September 2022, the ESFA updated its guidance ‘Understanding your data: a guide for school governors and academy trustees’, which identifies performance data, grouped into 7 themes, that the board must and should be analysing, to identify the root causes of problems and failures, and guide discussions on ensuring the best possible outcomes for learners.

In this webinar, John Rees, RSHE subject matter expert with over 25 years’ educational leadership experience, highlights the salient points of the ESFA guidance and explains how performance data can be used as an evidence base to identify, prioritise and address the most problematic, serious or persistent issues in individual settings.
