This webinar will provide leaders with an understanding of and practical guidance on addressing emotionally based school avoidance (EBSA), and explore different ways to effectively support pupils and families to achieve the best possible outcomes.

All schools have a continuing responsibility to proactively manage and improve attendance across their school community. Whilst there can be many factors for non-attendance, research has found that the impact of EBSA on children can be far-reaching, hampering their psychological, social and academic performance and, in turn, their future employment opportunities.

In this webinar, Anna Bateman, mental health and wellbeing expert, who works in an advisory role for the DfE, explores what exactly EBSA is, the risk factors surrounding school avoidance and the steps schools can take to help overcome challenges and emotionally support their pupils.
