For: Leaders, trustees

Aim: This webinar will provide trustees with expert guidance on undertaking an appraisal of the CEO (or executive leader/headteacher), including understanding the appraisal policy, forming the panel and appointing an external adviser. It is applicable to trustees of a multi-academy trust (MAT) and single-academy trust (SAT).

Rationale: The DfE’s 'Governance Handbook' highlights the importance of implementing a supportive and developmental appraisal process “designed to ensure that all teachers and executive school leaders have the skills and support that they need to carry out their role effectively”. It goes on to state that “Academy trusts are free to determine their own appraisal process and may adopt the requirements for maintained schools if they wish”.
