Aim: This webinar will outline the biology of trauma: how it affects the brain, and what happens to behaviour and learning when young people have experienced it. It will then examine the impact of childhood trauma, and how this can be incorporated into your school’s safeguarding culture.

Rationale: In a safeguarding context, trauma-informed practice (an approach to interventions which is grounded in the understanding that exposure to trauma can impact a young person’s development on many levels) can support the development of strategies which meet the different needs of individual students – taking into account their backgrounds and supporting positive outcomes for students who have experienced trauma.
