This webinar will provide governors, headteachers, school leaders, SENCOs, teachers and teaching assistants with an overview and insight into proposals set out by the government to improve outcomes for children and young people with SEND and those in alternative provision (AP).

On 29 March 2022, the DfE and Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) published their green paper titled ‘SEND review: right support, right place, right time’ for open consultation. The paper forms part of the government’s overall strategy to ‘level up’ opportunities for all pupils and provides an opportunity for schools (and parents) to deliver their views on proposals to ensure every child and young person with SEND and those in AP can thrive and be well prepared for adult life. The consultation will close on 1 July 2022.

In this webinar, Karen Pilling, SEND expert & Deputy Head with an extensive background leading on SEN training in schools, will explore what the main findings into current SEND and AP provision have revealed, what changes the green paper is seeking consultation on and how the government will look to ensure every child and young person has their needs identified quickly and met more consistently.
