Ofcom’s children and parents’ media use and attitudes report 2020/21 found that four in ten young people reported using social media sites or apps below the minimum age requirement (commonly set at 13). During this period of rapid mental development when children are excited to explore the digital world, staff must be equipped to advise them on what constitutes a positive online connection – and how to spot the warning signs of a potentially harmful online situation.

In this webinar, Dr Rina Bajaj, counselling psychologist with almost 20 years’ experience of working with children, explains why forming attachments is so vital for children, explores which apps and platforms they tend to use for making connections at this age and answers genuine online safety questions from primary school pupils.
