Safeguarding Pupils before, during and after School Holidays | Post-16

This webinar will provide headteachers, senior leaders, DSLs, governors, teachers and support staff with a detailed understanding of the additional safeguarding concerns that staff need to be aware of before, during and after the Christmas break, in relation to their roles and responsibilities.

Research conducted by children’s charity The Early Intervention Foundation last year estimated that almost 16,000 children and young people are at risk of suffering abuse at home over the two-week festive period – and that the figure is rising annually. The stresses of families being together – or apart – for a concentrated length of time, along with the strain of financial worries and (in many cases) increased parental consumption of alcohol create a combination of conditions which amount to a significantly increased safeguarding risk.

In this webinar, safeguarding consultant Rachael Bishop explores possible indicators and signs of abuse and the issues that can cause it to increase over Christmas, as well as discussing the protocols and procedures for effective prevention, intervention and response.
