Aim: The webinar will explore the prevalence of drug and substance use among teenagers and highlight behaviours that might indicate a concern. It will also discuss the role that schools play in preventing and responding to drug and substance use among their students.

Rationale: Data collected over the past half-decade indicates a worrying rise in the number of young people in the UK (many of them still at school) who are participate in drug and substance abuse – including the use of Class A drugs. As part of the statutory duty on schools to promote students’ wellbeing, schools have a clear role to play in preventing drug use as part of their pastoral responsibilities, as well as liaising appropriately with parents, carers and external agencies.
