Aim: This webinar will explore of the nature and history of online challenges – explaining why young people might be drawn to them and what the potential consequences are. The webinar also discusses what we can do to educate young people to recognise and avoid harmful situations online.

Rationale: The importance of schools understanding and being aware of the risks posed by certain online challenges is now explicitly referenced in the Keeping Children Safe in Education guidance document, which tweaked its wording (paragraph 133) in the most recent version to highlight the issue. Indeed, there have been many tragic stories in the news over the past year about young people who have been injured or died as a result of participating in these challenges.
