This webinar will provide leaders, teachers and teaching assistants with practical guidance and advice on how to create a classroom culture that empowers teaching assistants to manage pupils' behaviour, creates respectful working partnerships and reduces instances of abuse.
In October 2022, the University of Roehampton published research which found that over 50% of teaching/classroom assistants had experienced physical violence in the last year; 60% had experienced verbal abuse. Given the important contribution that teaching assistants can make, it’s crucial they feel safe, valued and respected in the classroom.
In this webinar, George Regan, SENCO, safeguarding lead and former teaching assistant, will explore different ways in which to empower and support teaching assistants, consider the reasons why they might be subject to abuse and what measures can be put in place to help build a more respectful culture.
