Aim: This webinar will provide you with expert guidance on implementing the statutory reception baseline assessment (RBA) in the academic year 2023-24. It will explain how to prepare for and administer the RBA, avoid potential pitfalls, address parental concerns and objections, and use results alongside observational assessment to adapt and refine your curriculum in line with pupils’ needs.

Why this webinar is important: The DfE describes the RBA, which became statutory in schools in September 2021, as “an activity-based assessment of pupils’ starting points in language, communication and literacy, and in mathematics” which schools are required to carry out within the first six weeks of pupils starting reception. Guidance from the Standards & Testing Agency sets out updated statutory requirements for the new academic year.
