Racism Online: How to Support a More Inclusive Digital Environment

This webinar will provide designated safeguarding leads, senior leaders, teachers and all staff with an understanding of and insight into how racism manifests online and the ways that the internet and technology can help support a more inclusive environment.

Racism online isn’t a new trend but seemingly appears to have gathered greater media publicity over the last few years. This was no more apparent than in 2021, when three black footballers received more than 1,622 racist comments on Twitter after they missed penalties in the Euro 2020 final. The importance of education, therefore, cannot be understated.

In this webinar, the Global Equality Collective, an online community and collective of subject matter experts dedicated to diversity, equality & inclusion, will explore how we define modern racism, why it may be more likely to occur online and what actions can be taken to create allies in the online world.
