This webinar will provide headteachers, senior leaders and designated safeguarding leads (DSLs) with advice and practical guidance on undertaking a self-assessment of their Prevent-related statutory responsibilities aligned with new DfE guidance, so that they can take action where necessary to enhance safeguarding and ensure compliance.

On 24 October 2022, the DfE published the ’Prevent duty self-assessment tool for schools’ to help schools and colleges evaluate how well embedded their existing Prevent policies and practices are, and encourage a cycle of continuous review and improvement.

In this webinar, Elizabeth Kitto, former teacher, Prevent lead and UK government advisor, explains how schools and colleges can use the Prevent self-assessment tool to gather evidence in seven key areas so that they can identify what is working well and areas for development, and implement a process of continuous improvement to strengthen provision.

*On the same day, the DfE also published ’The Prevent duty: safeguarding learners vulnerable to radicalisation’ and ’Making a Referral to Prevent’, which are the subjects of another webinar.
