This webinar will provide governors, headteachers, senior leaders and teaching staff with an understanding of the legal requirements relating to political impartiality in schools and colleges and how these legal duties might impact teaching and extra-curricular activity.

On 17 February 2022, the DfE published their guidance on political impartiality in schools. The guidance aims to support those working with and in schools and colleges to understand the relevant legal duties and provides advice on how they can be considered when teaching about political issues, working with external agencies and beyond the curriculum.

In this webinar John Rees, RSHE subject matter expert with over 25 years’ educational leadership experience, will provide an expert overview of the new guidance, explaining what the law says, what schools’ responsibilities are and how staff should consider teaching about political issues as part of broad and balanced curriculum.
