Aim: This webinar provides expert insight into a new DfE report which identifies factors for persistent absence for unauthorised other reasons (PAUO) in secondary school-aged pupils. A better understanding of the reasons for PAUO can help you identify those at risk, so that interventions can be implemented as early as possible.

Rationale: On 18 May 2023, the DfE published a cohort study of pupils who were PAUO for at least one year of their secondary education. The study describes the characteristics of PAUO pupils and examines individual risk factors linked to being PAUO using logistic regression.
