On 8 September 2022, the DfE published its guidance ‘Period product scheme for schools and colleges in England’, a scheme for all girls and women who need to access period products in their place of learning in order to access education. It is not a universal offer of free products, but rather intended to support individuals who, for example, have forgotten or cannot afford them, or who need them unexpectedly.

This webinar will explain who is eligible for the scheme, how it works, educators’ responsibilities and wide-ranging considerations when choosing products, and recommendations for promoting the scheme. The webinar will also explore how educational settings can take a whole-school or college approach which promotes healthy and respectful communication around periods and women’s health.
