At National Online Safety, we provide multi-award-winning online safety education for the whole school community. It’s our mission to make the internet a safer place for children. We believe that when children go online to learn, communicate or play, they should be able to do so safely. That’s why we provide schools all over the world with the knowledge they need in order to tackle new and evolving online risks.
Online Sexual Content
Part of our Online Identity & Self Image Series 2020-21

What is online sexual content?
While it’s tempting to think that sexual content on the internet begins and ends with dedicated porn sites, it’s actually far more pervasive. Sexualised content is everywhere: social networking sites, chat rooms, forums, and pop-up adverts. While adult filters will pick up much of the more obvious content, plenty more can slip through the cracks. For consenting adults, this may not be an issue, but for young people, it can influence expectations and their behaviour in relationships.
