What is an online reputation?

A person’s online reputation is determined by the content they share and comment on when using the internet and through their general activity on digital platforms. Online reputations are important because things posted online can stay on the internet for a long time and can directly impact on people’s lives.

For more information on the associated risks and online safety tips for parents and carers, watch our explainer video, available to those with a National Online Safety membership.
