At National Online Safety, we provide multi-award-winning online safety education for the whole school community. It’s our mission to make the internet a safer place for children. We believe that when children go online to learn, communicate or play, they should be able to do so safely. That’s why we provide schools all over the world with the knowledge they need in order to tackle new and evolving online risks.
Online Avatars
In the online world, avatars can offer a degree of protection and privacy for young people - but they can also provide anonymity to individuals with malicious intentions. This short video tells you everything you need to know.

What are online avatars?
Online avatars are digital characters that represent a person. The use of online avatars is popular in online communities and on video gaming platforms. Cartoons, anime, and images are all used as avatars. Avatars can protect children’s identity online and reduce the risk of impersonation or identity theft. However, they can also be misused by those who use them to their own advantage.
