This webinar will provide headteachers, school and college leaders and mental health leads with expert insight into the NICE guidelines on self-harm and the role of education settings in assessment, management and preventing recurrence.

On 7 September 2022, the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) published its guidelines titled ‘Self-harm: assessment, management and preventing recurrence’. The document provides recommendations for different areas schools and colleges should be aware of, and it is expected that staff should take account of the guidelines, alongside the individual needs, preferences and values of their pupils.

In this webinar, Anna Bateman, subject matter expert on mental health and wellbeing, who works in an advisory role for the DfE, will explore what the recommendation from the NICE guidelines are, how they can be applied and what impact they will have on school and college processes and procedures.
