On the 6th July 2020, the DfE announced new guidance to support the statutory ‘National curriculum in England: mathematics programmes of study’ on teaching mathematics at Key Stages 1 and 2.

The updated guidance was produced jointly with the National Centre for Excellence in Teaching Mathematics (NCETM). It focuses on ‘ready-to-progress criteria’ which are the concepts children need to master before they progress to the next year group.
