Aim: This webinar will provide you with expert insight into SATs for key stage 2 maths used in May 2023, as a starting point for considering your maths curriculum for the next academic year. The papers include arithmetic and reasoning test materials. 

Rationale: On 22 May 2023, the Standards and Testing Agency (STA) published the key stage 2 maths test materials used in May 2023. This follows wider criticism raised in the media of the SATs system and its impact on pupils.

Outcome 1:

Gaining insight into the most recent past papers for key stage 2 maths, including arithmetic and reasoning test materials

Outcome 2:

Understanding how the May 2023 test materials can be used as a starting point for reflection on your wider key stage 2 maths provision in the next academic year

Outcome 3:

Appreciating how to evaluate teaching and learning against key areas of focus identified the May 2023 test materials

Outcome 4:

Being able to identify potential challenges for pupils in completing SATs, and understand how you can help pupils overcome them

Outcome 5:

Appreciating the importance of supporting pupils throughout the SATs process, taking account of perceived variations in levels of difficulty from year to year
