The Graduated Response to SEND: Guidance for Leaders

This webinar will provide headteachers, senior leaders, governors and SENCOs with expert guidance on understanding and implementing the graduated approach to supporting children and young people with SEND, aligned with statutory guidance. It complements other webinars in the series, The Graduated Response to SEND. 

The SEND Code of practice 0 – 25 years defines the graduated approach as a model of action and intervention which “recognises that there is a continuum of special educational needs and that, where necessary, increasing specialist expertise should be brought to bear on the difficulties that a child or young person may be experiencing”.

In this webinar, Sara Slade, specialist leader in education for SEND with over 24 years’ experience as a primary teacher, SENCO and senior leader, will explain how to embed the graduated approach within specific settings, including undertaking an audit of current provision and need, and taking account of a range of key factors, such as roles and responsibilities, workload capacity, accountability and income.
