At National Online Safety, we provide multi-award-winning online safety education for the whole school community. It’s our mission to make the internet a safer place for children. We believe that when children go online to learn, communicate or play, they should be able to do so safely. That’s why we provide schools all over the world with the knowledge they need in order to tackle new and evolving online risks.
Gaming Streamers and Influencers
New breeds of celebrities have emerged in the digital age: notably, streamers and influencers - who often command an audience in the hundreds of thousands. Who are these superstars of the internet, and how have they become so prominent? Our short explainer video will quickly bring you up to speed.

What are gaming streamers and influencers?
Streamers are people who stream themselves gaming, drawing, singing and so on, so people can watch on the internet. This is often done live, which enables people to chat with them in real time.
Influencers are social media stars who hold influence over the people that follow them, like a kind of trend-setter or taste-maker and companies often pay them to promote their products.
A streamer could also be considered an influencer in their chosen area.
