Fake news and the spread of misinformation on social media has grown significantly during the coronavirus pandemic. In the last five months alone, YouTube has removed more than 30,000 misleading COVID-19 vaccination videos which contradicted advice from the World Health Organisation (WHO) or health authorities such as the NHS, highlighting the seriousness of the problem.

In this webinar, Carl Miller, co-founder of the Centre of the Analysis of Social Media at Demos who has first-hand experience of speaking to fake news merchants, discusses why fake news has become so mainstream, how it is impacting the world and what schools can do help educate children on keeping safe online.
