Using EEF Guidance on Worked Examples to Enhance Pupil Outcomes | Secondary

This webinar will provide headteachers, senior leaders, teachers and practitioners with practical guidance on making the most of worked examples, with principal focus on maths and IT, but also with application to all curriculum areas, to enhance pupils’ confidence, knowledge and understanding in all subjects.

The Education Endowment Foundation (EEF) identifies worked examples as an evidence-based technique to manage pupils’ cognitive load and develop metacognitive thinking. It advocates FAME and Think Aloud approaches to worked examples to support a gradual transition from the teacher’s step-by-step demonstration to pupils’ independent practice.

In this webinar, the Association of Teachers of Mathematics (ATM), a national charity supporting the teaching and learning of maths, explores EEF guidance on worked examples, and explains how schools can make best use of step-by-step demonstration to enhance teaching, learning and pupil outcomes.
