The Education Endowment Foundation (EEF) identifies worked examples as an evidence-based technique to manage pupils’ cognitive load and develop metacognitive thinking. It advocates FAME and Think Aloud approaches to worked examples to support a gradual transition from the teacher’s step-by-step demonstration to pupils’ independent practice.

In this webinar, Anthony Barlow, principal Lecturer for Geography Education (BA QTS), author, consultant, examiner and former teacher, explores EEF guidance on worked examples, and explains how schools can make best use of step-by-step demonstration to enhance teaching, learning and pupil outcomes.
