For: Leaders, teachers and teaching assistants

Aim: This webinar will offer practical strategies that schools can implement to challenge the perception of male and female careers, encouraging girls’ interest in STEM subjects beyond secondary school and into their later academic and working life.

Rationale: 40,000 STEM jobs are unfilled every year in the UK, therefore it is more important than ever to encourage girls to see STEM subjects as accessible and achievable, challenging perceptions of female competency and the notion of gender roles in careers. It is vital that teachers and school leaders are equipped to counter biases and challenge stereotypes, mindsets and the historical status quo, and empower girls and young women to pursue STEM subjects and access these careers.
