Aim: This webinar provides an expert overview of the newly published Education Endowment Foundation (EEF) report – exploring its suggestion that directed professional development could help teachers to better support EAL pupils, showcasing the impact of specific EAL interventions and supplying insights which can be implemented in your setting.

Why this webinar’s important: With EAL pupils currently representing around one-fifth of England’s student population, many classrooms in 2024 are multilingual. Some teachers, however, could feel unprepared to teach in that environment. An EEF trial has concluded that a professional development programme – designed to help teachers better support EAL pupils – could improve academic outcomes (specifically at GCSE level). It is essential that schools give their staff the necessary tools to adapt provision for all students.
