Dr Phil Lambert has
extensive experience in education as a school principal, inspector, Executive
Director, Assistant Director-General, Regional Director (Schools), Sydney and
General Manager, Australian Curriculum where he led the development of Australia’s
first national curriculum. He has led major reviews and reforms, presented a
number of papers and keynotes at national and international conferences, had a
number of articles and occasional papers published in journals, and authored
three books, the most recent being, ‘The Knowing and Caring Profession’,
released in 2022.
Dr Lambert
is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Sydney where he supports the
education faculty and is a member of the Vice-Chancellor’s STEM Academy Board.
Dr Lambert is also Adjunct Professor at Nanjing Normal University. He served as President of the Australian College of
Educators from 2018 to 2022 leading its transformation and transition to
Educators Australia in 2023. He is Chair of Together For Humanity Foundation
which works in and with schools to combat racism and prejudice.
Dr Lambert
has received a number of honours and awards. In the 2012 Queen’s Birthday
Honours he was awarded the Public Service Medal for his outstanding
contribution to education, and in 2013 was the recipient of the Australian
College of Educators’ prestigious award, the Sir Harold Wyndham Medal. He was
also the 2020 recipient of the NSW Teachers Guild Phyllis Evans Medal.
Dr
Lambert has provided expert advice to the OECD Education 2030 initiative,
UNESCO and The World Bank and has recently been engaged by the Education
Ministries and agencies of The Netherlands, Japan, Qatar, Brazil, the United
Emirates, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Kazakhstan, Lithuania and Vietnam to
train senior advisors and policy officers to support the implementation of
their respective national education reforms.
