This webinar will provide nursery managers, headteachers, teachers, practitioners, teaching assistants and SENCOs with advice and practical guidance on managing behaviour which is a cause for concern in early years, through a child-centred approach which reframes behaviour as a communications tool.

Recurrent, challenging behaviour is driven by feelings and unmet needs, and often an indicator of SEND. The statutory guidance ‘Special educational needs and disability code of practice: 0 to 25 years’ highlights that early years providers “must have arrangements in place to support children with SEN or disabilities”, and highlights the importance of identifying and addressing need at the earliest opportunity to improve long-term outcomes for children.

In this webinar, Cheryl Bedding, Director of Aperion Training, consultant, quality inspector with 30 years’ experience in childcare, extends an invitation to become a ‘behaviour detective’, and develop knowledge and skills to identify and address the feelings and needs that drive behaviour of concern in the classroom, minimizing triggers and taking a relational approach to support full participation in and enjoyment of early years.
