What is Artificial Intelligence?

Artificial Intelligence or AI relates to computers that can ‘think’ for themselves. Computers have had the ability to appear intelligent for years because they have been programmed how to behave in given circumstances. AI is the difference between humans programming a chess program that can beat humans by feeding it tactics, and a chess program being given the basic rules and figuring out winning strategies for itself.
