Aim: This webinar will explore the issues around racism in education, including a discussion around current policies and practices, the different challenges schools and colleges face today and the important role that teachers play in supporting a more diverse and inclusive culture.

Rationale: The DfE’s Equality Act 2010 and schools guidance supports schools and colleges to understand how the Equality Act affects them, their practice and how schools can fulfil their duties under the Act, including their responsibilities towards dealing with issues related to race. However, research conducted by the Institution of Race Relations found that BAME children were potentially being unfairly criminalised and excluded from school, creating a “two-tier” education system.
