Grimoldby Primary School
Grimoldby Primary School is situated in a village ten
minutes from the coast, in the East Lindsey District of Lincolnshire. The
school values inclusivity and believes that every child should leave school
with a love for reading; staff feel strongly that all children need access to
all types of books, both at home and school.
Grimoldby is geographically distant from any major cities
and has a local population which is predominantly white British. This means
that pupils would probably not be able to learn about and experience a diverse range
of cultures – and a wide array of literary texts – if the staff did not address
this issue so proactively: using literature to guide children towards become
inclusive and caring members of the community.
The school began working with its local English Hub in 2021,
and staff members have attended numerous Reading for Pleasure courses since
then. Grimoldby Primary has fully embraced the Reading for Pleasure training,
guidance, research and pedagogy shared in these sessions and successfully implemented
many of those ideas and strategies.
