Guide

This free information guide gives early years practitioners, managers and SENDCos advice on the appropriateness of an EHCP for children in their care.

Education, Health and Care Plans are a formal, legalised way of providing early intervention for children (whether they’ve been diagnosed with a disability or not) to improve their long-term outcomes. They can be drawn up for “children and young people aged up to 25 who need more support than is available through special educational needs support”.

Early years practitioners, therefore, can benefit from a thorough understanding of how these plans work and what additional support they can provide – as well as, crucially, appreciating how and when to begin the process of applying for one. Our free guide has expert advice on the various factors to consider before and during an ECHP application.
