Nasen (National Association for Special Educational Needs)
Initially a secondary maths teacher who later became a SENCO and subsequently switched to working exclusively in special schools, Zoe Mather's final role before joining Nasen was as assessment and achievement lead, constituting part of the senior leadership team in an autism-specific setting.
Zoe’s particular professional interests include neurodiversity (especially in terms of removing labels and adopting a more person-centric approach to pupils’ needs) and Preparation for Adulthood (PfA), which supports opportunities for young people with SEND to achieve paid employment, independent living, friendships, relationships and community inclusion.
