Sunny Thakral

Sunny Thakral is a UK based educator who taught there for 11 years before deciding to shift horizons and travel the world. He currently works at Harrow Beijing and prior to that taught at The British School, New Delhi as part of their leadership team. His work with them on digital technology led to the Best British School in the World Award in 2018. Previous to that he was the Director of ICT at The British School in Kathmandu, Nepal where their award winning, student empowered work in the immediate aftermath of the Nepal earthquake supported the reconstruction of schools in remote districts. Prior to that he was part of the Extended Leadership Team at Canons High School in Harrow and before that the Head of ICT at Lampton School in London.

He has been a Child Exploitation and Online Protection (CEOP) representative with experience in training others in the field of e-safety. He holds a Masters in Education from Middlesex University and a BSc. (Hons) in Physics with Computer Science from Brunel University. He has successfully completed the National College of School Leadership’s Aspiring Leaders course which aims to develop future school leaders in the UK.

Sunny is a Google Certified Teacher, Common Sense Ambassador, Book Creator Ambassador, Apple Teacher along with a Microsoft Innovative Educator and can integrate software systems across the board effectively. His extensive experience in integrating technology in a diverse range of schools allows him to support schools around the world and he is a regular speaker at international conferences.

Sunny was the only school teacher to be recognised in the top 50 list of global e-learning industry influencers for 2019 and was awarded Teacher of the Year 2019 and the Global Teacher Award 2019. Due to his contribution to education, he was recognised as a Fellow of the Chartered College of Teaching UK in 2020.
