Sarah Emerson
Sarah is an early childhood consultant and trainer specialising in children’s emotional wellbeing, working with parents and professionals in a way that combines practical information, clarity, and a sense of calm. She has worked in early years education for over 20 years in a variety of teaching, leadership and training roles, and delivers training and consultancy to early years providers, schools and local authorities, and workshops and 1-1 support to parents.
A qualified early years teacher with an MA in Early Childhood Studies and a postgraduate certificate in Child, Adolescent and Family Mental Wellbeing, Sarah is also trained in a holistic approach to children’s sleep and holds Montessori teaching diplomas for ages 0-3 and 3-6 years. She advocates for responsive, connected parenting and teaching that enables children to develop emotional wellbeing, resilience, happiness, and self-worth, and is passionate about providing inclusive and neuro-affirming approaches.
Sarah focuses on reframing ‘behaviour’ into conversations around dysregulation and how we can support the development of self-regulation and self-control in an appropriate way and with realistic expectations for young children. She encourages professionals and parents to consider how to meet children’s needs effectively, communicate with them sensitively, and teach them about their emotions and strategies for regulation from a young age.
