Phil Spencer
Phil Spencer is a children's social worker in the UK who in recent years has specialised in safeguarding unaccompanied, separated and trafficked migrant children. He is currently the International Safeguarding Manager at Safe Passage International.
Phil has worked voluntarily as a Child Protection Adviser for Child Action Lanka, managing all aspects of their child protection work across Sri Lanka, including training staff, designing a comprehensive child protection policy and providing case consultation to staff in relation to specific child protection concerns.
Phil has also worked as a child protection social worker for Westminster City Council as part of the frontline social work training programme, and as a social worker and court officer for Westminster Youth Offending Team.
Other roles have included working with local development organisations in India and Nepal through Ethos, a small UK charity which provided funding to development programmes. Both academically and in recent experience overseas, Phil’s specialist area of work related to labour exploitation and other aspects of labour and international development.
