Matt Williams

Matt Williams is the headteacher at Trenance Learning Academy, a large infant school in Newquay which serves a spectrum of society. He has been the head for three years, having started out as a teacher at the school ten years ago. Prior to that, he worked across primary (at an international school in the UAE), secondary and post 16 phases.

Matt is deeply invested in not simply ensuring that the school provides a strong education for all pupils but also in developing the wider community, ensuring that children can enjoy a life of options and possibilities. He leads on community development as part of the ‘cradle to career’ model within his academy trust, Kernow Learning. As well as his role as head, Matt is part of two governing bodies, facilitates training for the NIoT NPQ courses and works with the Kernow English Hub’s strategic board.
