Kirsty Gibbs

Kirsty currently works as the Head of Early years and as Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL). Within her role she specialises in teaching and training Early Years practitioners on the role of the practitioner, on policies and procedures, and on safeguarding practice. She delivers these sessions to individuals and small groups, following current guidance, requirements, and practical experience.

Safeguarding has been central to her role throughout her career, and she is passionate about supporting practitioners to develop the knowledge, confidence, and professional curiosity needed to safeguard children. Her training approach is engaging, informative, and reflective, with a firm focus on supporting practitioners to understand their safeguarding responsibilities and recognise concerns, and to respond and report appropriately, therefore promoting a culture of safeguarding within settings.

She has worked in the Early Years sector for over 20 years, and throughout her career has held a range of leadership and safeguarding roles and responsibilities. This experience has provided her with extensive knowledge of child development, safeguarding procedures and requirements, and the importance of creating a safe, supportive environment where children can thrive.
