Kate Thornton-Bousfield

Kate is the CEO of the Association for Physical Education. She previously served as Head of Physical Education and Achievement at the Youth Sport Trust, and as Director of Specialism. With 13 years of experience teaching PE across four secondary schools and working with six primary schools in the North West of England, she brings extensive expertise to her role.

A driven educator, Kate is passionate about people and about ensuring every child has the opportunity to become the best version of themselves. She is a committed physical educationalist who believes that every child should have access to a well-structured and scaffolded curriculum, delivered by knowledgeable, highly skilled, and enthusiastic teachers. Energetic and dedicated, she is always seeking ways to improve and is a firm believer in the transformative power of physical education.
