Justine Bohitige

Justine taught Media Studies for over 26 years and has been Head of Media Studies for over 20 years, teaching a GCSE, A level and BTEC in both state and independent schools. She is passionate about inspiring students through media and film education and believes that media literacy is an extremely valuable and rewarding skill for students to gain.

Justine champions diversity and has been an active member of the Network for Ethnic Diversity in Film Education, supported by BFI Education and Into Film, for the last two years. As Second Chance Co-Ordinator, Justine led a team through an innovative media project to link education and industry and to challenge perceptions of underprivileged students through the narrative of the short film. This 18-month project culminated in a short film with a cast including Aml Ameen, Alison Steadman and David Harewood acting alongside students from Hertfordshire. I was fortunate enough to present our work at the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust conference in February 2009, encouraging other schools to consider more collaboration with the film industry.
