JP Vergne

JP Vergne is an educator and associate professor at University College London’s School of Management. He specialises in the evolution of capitalist societies since the early 17th century – with a particular interest in how socially contested organisations affect the renewal of industries at the vanguard of the economy.

His award-winning research on piracy, on the global arms industry around 9/11 and on the rise of blockchain-powered organisations has been published in leading academic journals as well as in two books, including the acclaimed work The Pirate Organization: Lessons from the Fringes of Capitalism (Harvard Business Review Press, 2012, co-authored with Rodolphe Durand).

JP’s research findings have also been featured by such media outlets as the Financial Times, The Economist and Forbes, as well as various cryptocurrency news sources. As a speaker, he has given keynote presentations at international technology conferences (including Google Zeitgeist, South by Southwest, TEDx) and high-profile corporate events.
