Jo Marchant, MBE

Jo Marchant MBE, author of the bestselling books The School Premises Handbook and Managing School Business Operations, has worked in school business leadership and management for 15 years. She has been responsible for leading school business operations in both local authority-maintained schools and a multi-academy trust, in special education and mainstream settings. Her expertise covers strategic leadership, estates, health and safety, finance, HR, IT, sustainability, procurement, business continuity and risk management. 

An accredited School Resource Management Advisor working for the Department for Education, Jo serves on the steering group of The Trust Network for school estates professionals and is a member of the Department for Education’s School User Design Reference Group. She is also a Fellow of the Institute of School Business Leadership. In June 2024, Jo was awarded an MBE in the King’s Birthday Honours List for services to education. She was named as one of the 50 most influential people making an impact on education in 2024 by Education Business magazine.
