Ellie Chettle Cully

As French specialist teacher at Hazel Primary School, Leicester, Ellie’s role enables her to share her love of language learning with pupils from year 3 to year 6. Through a rich and engaging scheme of work, children are given opportunities to develop their key skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing, as well as focusing on grammar and developing accurate pronunciation and spelling through the discrete teaching of French phonics.

Pupils’ understanding French and francophone culture is deepened through the celebration of key festivals and cross-curricular activities. The school has links with pupils in other French-speaking countries including Guadeloupe and Rwanda. In addition to teaching, Ellie also runs the Association for Language Learning (ALL) Leicester Primary Hub for primary MFL teachers and leads in the local area.
