Elizabeth Wilkinson MBE
Elizabeth Wilkinson MBE is a pioneering advocate for neurodiversity and the founder of The Dyslexic Dyslexia Consultant. With a career spanning over two decades, Elizabeth has become a nationally respected voice in the field of dyslexia awareness, education, and inclusion. Her work includes delivering impactful staff development training, strategic consultancy, and one-to-one support, all designed to empower individuals and organisations to embrace neurodiversity. Her dedication to this mission has earned her widespread recognition, culminating in her being awarded an MBE for services to people with dyslexia.
Elizabeth’s commitment to community and education has been celebrated through numerous accolades. She is a proud recipient of a Business for Children Award, the Telford 50 Cabinet Members Award, and the Shropshire Chamber of Commerce Business in the Community Award. Her outstanding contributions were further recognised with the John Clayton Award, a prestigious honour celebrating exceptional service and leadership in the Shropshire business community. She has also twice been a Pride of Shropshire finalist in the Shropshire Star awards and is the recipient of a Mayor’s Recognition Award, all reflecting her deep and lasting impact on the region.
Through initiatives such as Dyslexia Information Day and the National Dyslexia Awards, Elizabeth has created powerful platforms that celebrate and elevate the voices of neurodivergent individuals. On a personal level, Elizabeth is proudly neurodiverse – dyslexic, autistic, and also experiences visual stress and ADHD characteristics. She comes from a wonderfully mixed neurodiverse family, which further enriches her understanding and advocacy. These lived experiences bring authenticity, empathy, and deep insight to her work. She is a passionate believer in the power of embracing difference and uses her own journey to inspire others. Her warmth, resilience, and visionary leadership continue to shape a more inclusive future, not just in Shropshire, but across the UK and beyond.
